Ko Chang, Thailand - Water Festival of Loi Kathong
Thailand is a land of enchantment and exotic tastes for foreign visitors, what I learned when I tried the Fiesta del Agua de la Loi Kathong island of Ko Chang. Ko Chang In October 2003 the travel bug seriously bit 'of me. The symptoms led me to sell my business, pack a backpack with necessary items and roll in the Los Angeles International Airport with a credit card and an attitude. A few days later, I was in Thailand and headed for the island of Ko Chang, located near the border with Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand. Ko Chang is an island rich in forests, small towns full of beach huts. This is what it was exactly what I wanted. Spend the day with the sun and contemplate my navel. Unfortunately, soon experienced the local bacteria, which was not what I wanted. Since I had rented my beach hut for a week with payment in advance, the family runs the place by the time I looked. Who took pity on me and I just grease the Tom Yom Kung and other soups and curries. After four days, had finally kicked the bug and felt halfway human. This was good news, as was the night of the Feast of the full moon water. I had heard of full moon festivals in Thailand. For tourists it is difficult to match, this was apparently the night of the big beach parties happened. In Ko Chang, which was a bit "different as night was consistent with the real Thai, not tourists. Kathong La Loi Festival happens every full moon. They are made offerings to appease the water spirits. These offers are available in the form of banana leaf bowls with flowers, fruits, candles and incense. Candles and incense are lit and directed everyone to the beach and starts putting them in the water. It is one of the most amazing light shows you will see and always hits the hands of Las Vegas down. Thousands of people, and I mean thousands of small lights floating on the sea surface without problems. After the dishes is one of the most visually stunning things I've ever seen. All the world is familiar with the paper lanterns used in Asia. usually come in the form of a rectangular shape with a bamboo or a light wire frame. Very popular among college students because they are cheap and look better than a light bulb. For the festival, Thais would take these paper lanterns and close the lid. The following is a small plaque affixed to this document at the bottom with a candle in it. Light the candle, wait for the heat to do their job and there was a hot air balloon immediately. Once the lamps can float, Just Let Go and went slowly over the ocean. "It was a sight to see how there were thousands of them floating in the water. As the festival ended, the ocean had been transformed. The air was filled with the grace of floating lanterns while the water is full of slowly varying points of light. If you're traveling to Thailand, be sure to plan your trip around a full moon. This is a scene I will never forget. Rick Chapo is with http://www.nomadjournals.com - makers of travel journals.
